During this 6-week online course, you will learn how to use the Color Vowel® Approach and Blue Canoe® to improve your learners’ pronunciation, vocabulary development, oral fluency, and speaking confidence. Each week you will submit videos of yourself teaching the concepts you have learned, and get personalized feedback. This course is appropriate for English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers and pronunciation/accent coaches who are partnering with Blue Canoe.

For educators who are ready to dive deeper, Color Vowel® Confidence will help you develop greater phonological awareness and confidence as you master essential techniques for the sound-aware language classroom. This fully-day workshop is appropriate for anyone who has completed Color Vowel Basics or the equivalent.

  • Reflect on your recent successes and challenges implementing the Color Vowel Approach in your classroom.
  • Review essential concepts including word and phrase stress, vowel quality, and the visual design of the Chart.
  • Learn how to teach r-controlled vowels and schwa with the Color Vowel Chart.
  • Explore uses of the Chart for teaching grammar, vocabulary, literacy, and spelling.
